Loughnane, CFE, CAMS
Mike Loughnane is president of Loughnane Associates, LLC. as part of a 42-year career serving in federal law enforcement, IT security, and instructor in financial crime investigations and counter-terror finance. He served 27 years as a special agent between the Offices of Inspector General at the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Transportation. He is former Director of Special Operations Directorate at the EPA OIG before moving to the private sector as a computer security professional, then becoming an instructor in counter-terror finance in the intelligence community.
Mike provides training programs to US law enforcement and the regulatory sector. He is a speaker at anti-money laundering and financial crime conferences held online and in person. Mike has written and spoken about how the elements in financial crime impact the antiquities sector. He has supported the academic community and recently the Antiquities Coalition as a member of a task force formed to support government efforts concerning recent laws related to the business of antiquities.
Mike has been published on financial crime and training in various professional magazines. Recently, he contributed a chapter focused on the challenge of financial investigations with respect to antiquities crime, “Antiquities Smuggling in the Real and Virtual World,” published in 2021 as part of the Routledge Transnational Crime and Corruption Series.
