Over a fifteen-year period, Eoghan has gained extensive international experience in the areas of anti-money laundering, sanctions, risk management and, more recently, data privacy.
Eoghan initially started out his career as a common law qualified lawyer (solicitor qualified in the jurisdictions of Ireland and England & Wales). Upon qualification, he relocated from Ireland to the offshore financial jurisdiction of Jersey, Channel Islands, working in the trust, funds and corporate services industry with a particular focus on the analysis of complex onshore and offshore structures for the purpose of transaction review and beneficial owner identification. To assist with these tasks, he qualified as a chartered tax adviser (CTA) and also became a member of Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).
He has also gained experience in other offshore jurisdictions (Isle of Man and Cayman Islands) where he was responsible for establishing compliance frameworks and departments for both onshore and offshore regulated businesses that serviced corporate and institutional clients. In addition, Eoghan has been involved in anti-money laundering and data privacy compliance initiatives for regulated businesses in Europe and the US. Furthermore, he is an Certification Instructor and SME and for ACAMS.
He has previously held various MLRO (money laundering reporting officer) roles and currently acts as the DPO (data protection officer) for a large international financial services organization.
Eoghan is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS®), Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS), CAMS®-Risk Management certified and an MBA graduate from Durham University Business School, UK. In the area of data privacy, he is a European Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
