Plugis
Michael L. Plugis is a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in El Paso, Texas. As the principal investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, HSI investigates, disrupts, and dismantles transnational criminal organizations and terrorist networks that threaten or seek to exploit the customs and immigration laws of the United States. Special Agent Plugis is currently assigned to the HSI El Paso Cyber Crimes and Forensics Group (CCFG). As a member of CCFG, he investigates cyber-enabled crime such as network intrusion, account compromise, malware, and fraud.
Special Agent Plugis began his law enforcement career in 2008 as a Border Patrol Agent in Calexico, California. As a Border Patrol Agent, Mr. Plugis served on the Strategic Planning Team where he wrote and reviewed operations orders, conducted training, and created briefings that were delivered at the national level. In 2013, Mr. Plugis was promoted to Border Patrol Intelligence Agent at the Special Operations Group (SOG) in El Paso, Texas, where he combated human and drug smuggling using a combination of investigative and enforcement techniques.
Mr. Plugis holds a bachelor’s degree in forensic science from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree in Homeland Security from Angelo State University.
