ACAMS Australasian Chapter November 2025 Event: Use of AI for Intelligence gathering for Financial Crime Investigations

Emma is Head of Financial Crime Risk Enablement at Bendigo Bank. Emma moved to Australia 9 years ago and has worked across both Investment and Private Banking in London, Singapore and now Australia.

Prior to joining Bendigo Emma was at SkyCity Casino Managing the Control Testing team for AML/CTF program uplift. Emma started her career at Bankers Trust in London as a reconciliations clerk. After temping and travelling she settled at Credit Suisse where she worked for 11 years. She ran teams in Prime Services Middle Office and Reference Data in that time moving from London to Singapore. Emma moved into a Risk Function in Line 1 supporting the business before leaving Credit Suisse to move to Barclays Capital. Emma ran risk teams within Barclays Capital Investment Bank and Private Bank at a regional and Global level prior to emigrating to Australia. Australia has become her permanent home where she and her family naturalised in 2020.

James has worked in Financial Crime for over 8 years at Westpac and formally at Bendigo Bank. He has held numerous roles across both organizations including Investigations, Controls Monitoring and currently in Advisory.

Kristi has been with the Westpac Group for 19 years, during which she has held a variety of roles across the organization. Over the past five years, she has specialised in Financial Crime, gaining deep expertise in this critical area. Most recently, Kristi has been supporting the Pacific region in a Line 1 Financial Crime Compliance capacity, where she plays a key role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal risk management frameworks.

Duane Rivett is the Co-Founder and Vice President of Strategic Growth at Fivecast, a global leader in digital intelligence solutions supporting national security, law enforcement, corporate security, and financial intelligence operations. With over 20 years of experience in research, commercialization, and the tech start-up ecosystem, Duane has been instrumental in translating cutting-edge innovation into real-world impact.

Since co-founding Fivecast in 2017, born from a collaboration between government and leading research institutions, Duane has guided the company’s expansion to over 150 employees across offices in Adelaide, Canberra, Washington D.C., and London. In 2023, Fivecast’s secured US$20 million Series A funding round, accelerating its global growth and product innovation.

Duane relocated to Washington D.C. in 2019 to establish Fivecast’s U.S. operations and continues to foster cross-border partnerships, travelling regularly between the U.S. and Australia. He works closely with Austrade and the U.S. Embassy to strengthen bilateral engagement and advises other Australian defense tech companies on U.S. market entry.

Prior to Fivecast, Duane held senior roles in high-growth start-ups and led commercialization initiatives at the University of Adelaide. He holds a Master’s in Biochemistry and an MBA in Technology Management, and is passionate about strategic growth, innovation, and building high-performance teams.
