Michael is currently the BSA Officer at Texas Security Bank in Dallas, TX. Michael has more than 8 years of AML/CFT experience at small to large financial institutions.
His BSA/AML career in started at TransPecos Banks a small community bank with branches in Pecos, Alpine and Marathon located in West Texas. The corporate headquarters was relocated to San Antonio, TX which provided me with the opportunity to join the team. From 2014-2020 I assisted the operations team and the BSA department with fraud and BSA/AML responsibilities. During my tenure, I requested the bank sponsor me to obtain my Certified Anti Money Laundering Certification from ACAMS. This was achieved in 2018.
In 2020, I accepted the role as BSA Officer at Wallis Bank located in Houston, TX. This opportunity afforded me the opportunity to manage a team of ten talented BSA analysts and manage a large portfolio of Money Service Businesses located in Texas, Georgia, and California. To continue to learn and expand my knowledge I started working on obtaining my Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager certification from the ABA. This was achieved in 2021.
The lessons learned and the experience gained at Wallis Bank really opened the doors for me to take on a new role at Texas Security Bank in Dallas, TX. The future is wide open as he now manages the BSA program and is working to take on new responsibilities in regulatory compliance. He is also grateful to be of service to the overall AML/CFT community located in Dallas Fort Worth.
