Davin Cermak is the owner of Cermak Consulting, which specializes in helping organizations incorporate data analytics and data science to improve their decision-making processes. Helping his transition to the consultancy world, Davin has over two decades of experience in U.S. banking and insurance regulation as an economist working with “big data” before most people had heard of the concept. Davin has incorporated his knowledge of insurance and banking regulatory financial data with economic data to monitor economic and banking risks to the U.S. financial sector, provide data analysis to support the development of regulatory policies, rules and regulations, and model laws, and perform economic research on topics such as energy markets, agricultural markets, and property and casualty insurance. Davin’s background in insurance regulation led him to an extended detail assignment during the U.S. financial crisis in 2009 with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s AIG monitoring team after the Bank stepped in to provide financial support to what was at the time the world’s largest insurance company. Because of this experience, his wife Elizabeth has forbidden him from balancing the family checkbook. Davin has a Master of Economics degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Dakota.
