Akana
Trenson Akana is a Special Agent (SA) with the United States Secret Service (USSS) and is currently assigned to the Global Investigative Operations Center (GIOC), which is part of the Criminal Investigative Division, located at the USSS Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is part of the Digital Assets Team that interface with the agency’s most significant cyber-enabled financial crimes, focused on investigating Crypto related fraud, digital assets tracing, recoveries, seizures/forfeitures, and related outreach opportunities. He specializes in investigating Crypto Investment Scams, most referred to as, “Pig Butchering”. Prior to transferring to Headquarters to begin his current role, SA Akana served in the Bangkok Resident Office (RO) as the assistant to the attaché, US Embassy Bangkok, Thailand. The Bangkok Resident Office’s regional coverage includes Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, and East Timor-Leste. He assisted in putting together the Southeast Asia Cryptocurrency working group and have strategically implemented Cyber and Crypto training for foreign Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, and Judges throughout the region.
SA Akana started his career in the Honolulu Field Office, where he quickly became the top Investigator of the Asia-Pacific Cyber Fraud Task Force. SA Akana also leads the agency in Network Intrusions investigations and cyber security efforts. Prior to joining the USSS, SA Akana worked as a Federal/Defense Contractor for a private corporation and dealt with Cyber Security and safeguarding both classified, unclassified, and mission-specific networks for the US Government. SA Akana graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Hawaii in Public Administration, with a focus on Intercultural Communications within the Federal Sector, and between Governments abroad.
