Steve
Murphy
Steve Murphy began his law enforcement career in 1975 as a Police Officer in Bluefield, West Virginia as well as some time as a Special Agent for Norfolk Southern in Norfolk, Virginia. Steve began his career with the DEA in June of 1987 where he worked several large-scale narcotics and money laundering investigations in West Virginia, North Carolina and probably most famously in Bogota, Colombia. While working in Bogota, Steve played a key role in the pursuit of notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar in Colombia during the 1980s and 1990s. As depicted in the Netflix series ‘Narcos’ Steve’s real-life efforts alongside his partner Javier Pena were instrumental in the eventual downfall of Escobar’s drug trafficking empire. Based on Steve’s successes throughout his career he was promoted numerous times to positions within the DEA that allowed him to oversee several successful narcotics and money laundering investigations both domestically and abroad. Steve is known for his bravery, dedication, and expertise in combating organized crime, and his work has left a lasting impact on the fight against drug cartels. Steve currently works as an advisor with “Narcos” and is a co-producer and co-host of Game of Crimes Podcast, a weekly true crime podcast, along with Morgan Wright and Javier Pena. Each episode features a guest who discusses some of the most famous, and some not-so-famous, modern-day crimes from around the world.
